At the tasting bar... Lunessence Winery & Black Market Wine Co. - Sat. Oct 5, 2018

Lunessence Winery & Vineyard honours a commitment to crafting fine wines which showcase the unique terroir of the Okanagan Valley.

They believe in sustainable, environmentally sensitive viticulture, respecting the vineyard as a living and varied ecosystem. Each bottle is a proud expression of the earth it came from. Both in the vineyard and in the winery classical music reverberates.

At Lunessence, it is their belief that exposure to classical music helps produce well-balanced wines.

Here are the Lunessence Wines we are tasting:

Lunessence Pinot Blanc Oraniensteiner 2016 $23.99

Lunessence Winery blended Oraniensteiner, a unique German grape, with a late harvest Pinot Blanc, giving this wine balance and harmony. Dry and fruit forward, this white has enticing citrus aromas.

Winemaker’s Cut Sauvignon Blanc 2017

This is a clean, almost pristine sauvignon with classic aromas of green apple, cucumber, snap pea and fine mint.

Winemaker’s Cut Syrah 2016

The grapes were handpicked at Colin and Mike Stevens' vineyard in Osoyoos on 12.10.2015 at 26 brix. The fermentation was natural and took place in stainless steel tanks. The wine aged in a variety of Slovakian, French and American barrels for 14 months. This natural Syrah delivers ripe and strong characteristics of Okanagan. Black and white pepper, olives and leather with spicy flavours and a long finish.

Lunessence Merlot 2016

Lunessence Winery’s full-bodied Merlot is a classic worthy of acclaim. The nose has black cherry and blueberry aromas, leading into a palate of black currant, plum, and black cherry flavours.

At Black Market Wine Co. we’re all about breaking the rules set up by the traditional winemaking establishment. Small and nimble, we seek opportunities that others often don’t. We know the land, the climate, and the people. We explore the valley’s vineyards and kick tractor tires while talking shop with local farmers. We’re arbitrageurs, seeking ripe acquisitions across the Okanagan Valley and crafting these into inspired wines for the savvy. We blend the greatest wine-growing and wine-making talent together for unique collaborations.

Black Market Unsanctioned Semillon 2017

Crisp and dry on the palate, with a medium body. This wine has creaminess to the texture resulting from the barrel aging and lees stirring. Citrus notes of lemon and lime zest, yellow grapefruit and green apple are supported by subtle hints of toasted caramel and vanilla. Beautifully balanced with a long, clean finish.

Black Market Syndicate Red 2015

An elegant, well-balanced wine that is approachable right out of the bottle, but with enough structure to enable cellaring and enjoyment over the next 5 years. The wine opens with seductive flavours of black cherries, currant, pomegranate and plum, layered with subtle cedar notes and a floral lift. The wine is concentrated, with well-integrated tannins and acidity that linger into a long finish.
