Once regarded as a sweet drink fit only for an unsophisticated palate, rosé is on the rise with a climbing ‘hip’ quotient translating into a boom in sales. Rosé represents a small percent of the table wine market, but sales climbed 53% by volume to sales over the last 2 years. The phenomenon is attributable to the pink drink’s reputation as fashionably premium, yet versatile and affordable. According to Nielsen, 40% of rosé wine consumers are females aged 21-44 who are most likely scrolling through social media. It’s still most popular in coastal, cosmopolitan settings, Metro cities and summer picnics.
