Friday August 24, 2018 - At the tasting bar Mt. Boucherie Winery from Kelowna

The name Mount Boucherie refers to the extinct volcano that is the geologic landmark of West Kelowna in the sun soaked Okanagan Valley. Last active during the Paleocene (or the “Old Recent”) it once rose over 2000 meters high before being eroded by glaciation to its current height of 417 meters above the lake. The soils which were created by this scouring glacial activity are those on which we grow today.
Mt. Boucherie Estates was established as a grape growing business in 1968 with the winery following in 2001. Vineyards were planted in the Okanagan and Similkameen Valleys from the 1960’s and with more being planted today. The holdings today are over 300 acres.
Here are the wines we are sampling!

Mt. Boucherie Winery

Leontyne in store 3:30-6:30pm

Pinot Gris 2017

The hot days and cool nights in our Similkameen Vineyard produced a vintage of ripe Bosc pear and melon, with a satisfying silky honey finish.

Rose 2017

An elegant yet playful dance upon your palate of strawberries and fresh cut watermelon, with a crisp mineral finish. 100% Zweigelt

Family Reserve Chardonnay 2016

This Chardonnay is made in a restrained, old world style. Aromas of lemon, hazelnut and distinct minerality fill the glass. The palate shows lively citrus flavoured acidity along with notes of honey, roasted nuts, yellow apple and mineral tones.

Pairs wonderfully with rich soft cheeses, cream based sauces, white meats and all kinds of shellfish.

Pinot Noir 2016

From Similkameen Valley fruit, this earthy, clean, lighter red signals pinot noir, from its forest-threaded fruit down to its earthy, stony finish. A core of red currant, lightly smoked plum, twine and raspberry is swept along fine, lightly drying tannins to a spicy, brisk finish. Soft, warm, silky and ready-to-go, it would shine with pork tenderloin or wild mushroom risotto.

Merlot 2014

DARK. PLUMMY. YUMMY. Notes of ripe blackberries, dark plums, a hint of floral and vanilla. On the palate, fresh, well balanced with a velvety finish. Varietal: 100% Merlot Viticulture: 100% winery-owned fruit from our vineyards in the Similkameen Valley, Okanagan Falls and the Golden Mile.
