Tightrope Winery

A grapegrower walks a tightrope every season to ensure the the grapes are perfect when it comes to picking time. This includes every decision from pruning to irrigation to thinning. Some years Mother Nature can make it very difficult to stay balanced on the tightrope but Graham's experience and training, has brought us through each time.

All of our vines are shoot, leaf and cluster thinned to optimize the crop load and sunlight penetration throughout the canopy.  And, the grapes are handpicked and go straight to the winey for processing. The wines are handcrafted in small lots and made using the best equipment available.

Rose 2017

This 2017 Rosé is made almost entirely of Pinot Noir, but with a splash of Barbera (3.0%), to give it backbone and elevate the fruit, as well as adding a touch of spiciness. This wine has aromas of violets, pink grapefruit and cranberry; while on the palate there is raspberry, strawberry, rhubarb and a hint of spice.

Viognier 2017

This classic Viognier is made exclusively from Naramata Bench grapes. Extensive work was done in the vineyard to make this wine. All the vines were shoot thinned and fruit thinned to one cluster per shoot. The vines were also leaf thinned and the grapes were handpicked. The grapes for this wine were sourced from our home vineyard, and neighbouring Hermitage vineyard.

Pinot Noir 2016

On the nose there is an elegant balance of violets, black cherry, warm raspberry and cedar-wood. The palate continues with flavours of plum, vanilla, mocha and spice. This is a full-bodied Pinot Noir, with soft silky tannins.

Cabernet Franc 2016

This is medium bodied wine, with aromas for cassis, cherry and plum. These flavours continue on to the palate with blackberry, vanilla, tobacco and leather. There is good tannin structure, leading to a pleasing finish.
