Organic, Local BC Wines
Producers use 100 per cent organic grapes and can’t use toxic pesticides, herbicides, or synthetic fertilizers. Instead they fertilize with compost, compost teas, green manure, and cover crops. They also rely on mechanical weeding, mowing around the vines, mulching, and companion planting. To avoid using insecticides to control cutworms, they let chickens graze under the vines or handpick the worms off leaves. Certified organic wine doesn’t use genetically modified organisms (GMOs) or contain sulphites (conventional wines use GMO yeast).
Van Westen Viognier 2013
Intense apricot, mango, papaya and floral honeysuckle notes all nicely integrated with some complex and exotic spice notes. The palate is richly textured and full-bodied all balanced with crisp acidity. There is peach, apricot, pineapple and cantaloupe melon with a long finish.
Intersection Riesling 2015
A lively, aromatic minerality comes crisp and strong on the nose, intermingled with fresh green apple. On the palate, brief honey sweetness is swiftly cleansed by continued green apple and lime zest. A clean, refreshing finish leaves the mouth watering for more.
Double Gold Medal Winner - 2017 Cascadia Wine Competition
Gold Medal Winner - 2017 NorthWest Wine Summit
Haywire Pinot Noir 2017
White label pinot noir. An entrancing burgundy colour and intense cherry aromas lead to a palate loaded with lively ripe red-berry fruits, exotic spice blends, and earthy characters.
Kalala Aspire 2013
A rich, bold blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah with aromas and flavours of plum, blueberry and cherry. Abundant tannins would suggest decanting before serving with heartier foods. Quite enjoyable now but also an excellent wine to age; 3-5 years is suggested.
