Here is what we are tasting....
Friday March 22, 2018
Tasting Riesling starts with intense aromas that rise from the glass (even when the wine is ice cold). This aromatic wine offers primary fruit aromas of orchard fruits like nectarine, apricot, honey-crisp apple, and pear. Besides fruit, you’ll often smell things like honeycomb, jasmine, or lime peel, along with a striking aroma that smells similar to petrol or petroleum wax (a natural compound called TDN). On the palate, Riesling has high acidity, similar to the levels in lemonade.
In store 3:30-6:30pm
Wild Goose Riesling 2017
This is an off dry Riesling showing beautiful balance and nice acidity that doesn't over present. On the nose you'll find Green apple, petrol, honey, lemon and white flowers, while the palate delivers flavors of Red Delicious apple and bright mandarin orange. This would make a perfect pairing for Asian dishes with some spice.
Gray Monk Riesling 2018
With a hue of burnished lemon gold, this wine has a squeeze of fresh lime in its full fruity aroma. It is lively and fresh on the palate, with flavours of green apples and limes. The clean, tangy finish is persistent. Serve this versatile wine chilled on its own or with a wide range of foods from salads to sushi.
Kitsch Dry Riesling 2016
This Riesling is the other side of the spectrum from our sweeter, more traditional Riesling. With bright acid, this age-worthy Riesling is reminiscent of a zesty and zippy lime margarita with a twist of ginger to spice up your life. Pale straw with a green apple hue this wine bursts with notes of peaches, ginger, cardamom, and key lime. On the palate, you can expect flavours of lime margarita, peach schnapps, and ginger. RS: 11.1 g/L. TH: 9.3 g/L.
Summerhill Organic Riesling 2016
Notes of orange blossom, white peach, and ripe citrus fruits.
Food Pairing Notes: Pairs wonderfully with white fish, honeyed ham, spicy dishes, and apricot-flavoured soft cheese.
