Black Swift Hart Street Un-Oaked Chardonnay 2016
Located in East Kelowna, this is our most northerly situated Black Swift vineyard; we rightly emulated Chablis for this inaugural vintage from this site. A selection of clones 76, 95 and 548, this site has a complex soil type of gravel, and sand on top of deep clay loam. This wine was raised entirely in stainless steel resulting in a fresh, pure and powerful expression of Chardonnay.
Dynasty White 2016
With the Dynasty White, extravagant opulence was the goal and combining Chardonnay, Semillon and a dash of Muscat proved to be the winning combination we were seeking. This wine defied vineyards, and it goes beyond the grapes themselves. After fermenting the Chard and Sem in older oak, we allowed this wine to further develop for 9 months in stainless steel barrels on their lees to create a wine of wine up front texture while retaining a sense freshness. The Muscat was accouterments at the end of the process, and who doesn’t love Muscat.
Ross O Pinot Noir 2016
3’s symbolism is the exuberance of life; the spiritual being having a human experience’. While that is absolute twaddle, the valid point is that whatever incarnation Ross might take, it will forever be a symbolic wine full of exuberance.
Screaming Frenzy Meritage 2016
This wine has developed a fair reputation for being a big brute, and for serious this might be our best yet. A truly debauched blend of 47% Merlot, 39% Petit Verdot and 14% Malbec. Now you do the math. Is that your final answer? Well, let’s hope you came up with ‘What is a ripe, super textured and powerful wine with oodles of loganberry compote, cinnamon and lavender dusted leather.
Smoke Show 2015
100% Cabernet Franc
Where’d the name come from?: The key word here is ‘Smoke’. These grapes came from Desert Valley in the Golden Mile, where in 2015 wildfires were a major issue in The Okanagan creating very smokey conditions at exactly the wrong time; during verasion when grape babies are the most sensitive. We found the smoke adds an added layer of intensity to the wine and notes that remind me of a peaty Scotch. We want our wines to be authentic reflections of their plot of land, and thus this is the creation of its given climat at that time.
Dynasty Red 2016
Syrah, Malbec and Merlot this vintage. Raised in all new French oak for 18 months, the goal was to make a wine of opulence, texture and most of all, big flavour. Some might describe this wine as a ‘velvet slipper’ and I shan’t disagree. Not that I ever did. The Syrah contributed structure, black pepper and boysenberry while the Malbec rounded it all out with some black cherry charm, luscious pluminess, and both pop out notes of lilac and lavender.
