49% Sangiovese, 30% Barbera, 10% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Syrah and 3% Cabernet Franc
Deep ruby red colour with an interesting bouquet of forest floor, earth, wood, violet and ripe red berries. This medium-bodied wine has soft, drying tannins and food-friendly acidity. Juicy red berries, along with savoury notes of earth, sweet oak, black licorice and cigar box evolve on the palate. Juicy red berries, baking spice and allspice linger on the finish.
Serve with breaded cheesy veal cutlets in rich tomato sauce; Shepherd’s pie; grilled lamb chops; prime rib; wild mushroom risotto; meaty lasagna; savoury sausage in tomato sauce over penne pasta; Pecorino or Grana Padano cheese.
